Food vendors in Ngororero marketplaces are urged to maintain cleanliness. This is after local authorities have noticed that most vendors do not care about leftovers and other dirt which they leave in the open when they finish selling their stuffs.
Ms Nyiraneza Clothilde is the vice Mayor in charge of social affairs. She says strict measures will be taken soon to deal with the problem. Vendors who are blamed for dirtiness are those dealing in boiled maize, cassava pancakes, and a locally brewed sorghum wine called Ikigage. “If not controlled, the situation might lead to epidemic outbreaks such as cholera”. The vice Mayor warned.
The situation is like maize consumers can’t just pick one from the pan, but have to turn them upside down in containers searching for best ones. People share cups used for drinking Ikigage and such a lifestyle is what spreads contagious diseases and should stop.
