Cows given to disabled people
Giving people with disabilities livestock to rear, testing them HIV/AIDS, sensitizing them to participate in family planning, training them on saving program and make productive what they have are some of the programs that were done in the 16days campaign to care for people with disabilities that ended on the 26th.Jan.2013.
Elysé Bakundukize explains that people with disabilities are like normal people but like confidence to carry out their plans due to stigmatization from people in their communities. In Gisagara district though, the habit of stigmatizing people with disabilities is no longer common, reasons why the district is trying to develop them.
Pascal Bizimana a disabled man who was given livestock says the fact that the government thinks about them and even gives them place in Rwandan society and they are developing with the help of all people.
Gaston Rusiha the president of National Council for people with Disabilities says that disabled people will always be taken care of and all Rwandans have to change their attitude towards people with disabilities.
Rwandans have to feel responsibility towards supporting them to regain confidence and take them towards development of all Rwandans. About 236 animals were given to disabled people in the course of the 16 days in Gisagara district.
