More health practitioners will be employed to facilitate the fight against malnutrition among children.
The vice mayor for economic affairs in Ngororero district Emmanuel Mazimpaka remarked recently during a social affairs meeting, that brought together agriculture and health officials on October 10, 2013 in Ngororero district.
The meeting came following the government’s decision to fight malnutrition in Rwanda during the 1, 000 days campaign.
Some of the suggested ways to stop malnutrition include; putting in place Kitchen gardens per family, identifying households with malnutrition problems and providing livestock to poor families.
Community health workers will also educate parents on preparing balanced meals.
Out of 44,498 examined children in Ngororero district, 386 showed signs of malnutrition while 121 are malnourished.
