Nyagatare Locals in Rwandan returnees’ houses construction drive

Residents of Nyagatare district have embarked on the campaign to construct 25 houses for Rwandan returnees who were evicted from Tanzania last year.

The construction commenced last Saturday during during the monthly Community Work (Umuganda) by preparing plots and laying foundations. The returnees currently reside in Matimba sector.

Davis Kayumba like all other Rwandan returnees in Matimba sector appreciated the support they receive from the residents and their leaders.

Meanwhile, farmers of Matimba sector gave the Rwandan returnees 62 cows and 23 tons of beans.

According to Aimee Iyaturemye the coordinator of JADF in Nyagatare district, the partners in development who pledged to help in construction of these houses were called upon to honour their pledges as quick as possible.

Ambassador Claver Gatete the minister for Finance and Economic Development who was present at the Umuganda alongside 23 senators aid Community Work helps in the realization of government projects with the help of local people.

Matimba sector will settle 25 families out of the 350 families with 1100 people that were received in Nyagatare district.

In January this year, all districts in the country were distributed with families to help settle in their respective districts.
