Representative from the Minister for Local Governments (MINALOC), Ombudsman Office, Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) and Nyamasheke district met on Monday 17th, 02, 2014 in Nyabitekeri sector to discuss and solve people’s problems.
These officials helped local people of Nyabitekeri solve problems affecting them as a part of the Good Governance Month Program. In this program, local people got a chance to state the problems affecting them in their communities. They also celebrated the achievements like roads and electricity.
The most issues discussed included injustice due to corruption, poor services, domestic and land conflicts.
Bonny Mukombozi a researcher at Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) said the Governance seminar is a platform to remove limitations on good governance that delay national development.
Innocent Ndahiro who works in the Ministry of Local Government in the Governance Department says local leaders in villages and sectors should always get near their subjects and solve their problems through the Governance Clinic.
Local people were also argued to always find solutions in themselves and be self reliant. Charles Bahizi the vice mayor for finance and Economic development asked Nyabitekeri sector administration to always settle people’s cases before they pile and be considered poor services delivery.
