Anitha Mutesi has called upon all Rwandans to participate in commemoration of the victims of Tutsi genocide of April 1994.

Some residents do not understand the meaning of commemoration and think it’s the business of genocide survivors. “Every Rwandan should know the importance of commemoration because genocide affected all Rwandese” narrates Anitha Mutesi vice mayor for social affairs

According to Mutesi, genocide memorial should be the time to comfort each other and giving help to those who need it in the right time.

“Some orphans and widows have no shelter. While we listen to the talk shows of commemoration, we should think about helping genocide survivors and reduce their sorrow,” explains Mutesi.

While Rwanda is commemorating genocide victims for the 18th round, Kayonza district administration organized different activities like visiting the survivors, building for those without shelter and providing food for the vulnerable orphans and widows of genocide.
