Gisagara residents advised on healthy feeding Residents of the Southern district of Gisagara have been urged to improve their eating habits for a healthy life.

The call came after it was discovered that parents save nutritious foods such as fruits and vegetables.

Most people in this part of the country don’t see the use of these foods and say that there were some types of food which they could not spend money.

Vestine Bankundiye a resident of Kansi sector in the district said “she could not by things like fruits and vegetable unless she was buying them for the children,” adding that she saw no need for such at her age.

However, the district leadership called on the residents to reduce eating foods with much oil and also to always eat healthy food including fruits and vegetables for a healthy and good living”.

They were also advised to stop drinking alcohol a vice that is prominent in this area, she advised them against it due to the side effects related to much consumption of alcohol.

The vice mayor in charge of social welfare in the district Donatelli Uwingabire called upon especially the women to join the teachings on good feeding, so that they could be able to prepare nutritious food for their families.

She advised them to always keep homes clean especially with food stuffs in order to prevent diseases related to poor hygiene.

Gisagarahas been praised for fighting malnutrition among children though there are still a few cases of malnutrition.
