Abaturage b’akagali ka Gakoro, umurenge wa Musanze baravuga ko inyubako nshya y’akagali kabo yuzuye, igiye gutuma barushaho guhabwa serivisi nziza, kuko bazayibona hafi kandi ku buryo bwihuse.

Ibi aba baturage bakaba barabitangaje kuri uyu wa kane tariki 16/05/2013, ubwo batahaga ku mugaragaro ibiro by’akagali kabo, byuzuye bitwaye amafaranga y’u Rwanda angana na miliyoni 12.

Akagali ka Gakoro, ni kamwe mu tugali 16 akarere ka Musanze kahize kubaka muri uyu mwaka, kakaba gahize utundi kuko ariko ka mbere kuzuye. Abaturage basabwe gukomeza ubufatanye n’inzego bwite za leta kugirango babashe kugera ku byo biyemeje.

Bamwe mu baturage bakurikirana ibikorwa by’izi ntore mu midugudu batuyemo bahamya ko mu myaka iza zizavamo abayobozi bakunda abaturage.

Uwamungu Laurent wo mu mudugudu wa Mirama ya mbere abihamya ashingiye ku bwitange abonana izi ntore.

“Ntakabuza ko izi ntore zizaba indashyikirwa bitewe n’ibikorwa tumaze kwibonera zikora. Ibi biraduha ikizere nk’abaturage ko aba bazavamo abayobozi beza.”

People living with the disabilities in Gisagara district need much attention for them to gain confidence in themselves and to participate in different government programs.

This was said by Elysé Bakundukize the coordinator of the National Council for people with Disabilities in Gisagara district.

Cows given to disabled people

Giving people with disabilities livestock to rear, testing them HIV/AIDS, sensitizing them to participate in family planning, training them on saving program and make productive what they have are some of the programs that were done in the 16days campaign to care for people with disabilities that ended on the 26^th.Jan.2013.

Elysé Bakundukize explains that people with disabilities are like normal people but like confidence to carry out their plans due to stigmatization from people in their communities. In Gisagara district though, the habit of stigmatizing people with disabilities is no longer common, reasons why the district is trying to develop them.

Pascal Bizimana a disabled man who was given livestock says the fact that the government thinks about them and even gives them place in Rwandan society and they are developing with the help of all people.

Gaston Rusiha the president of National Council for people with Disabilities says that disabled people will always be taken care of and all Rwandans have to change their attitude towards people with disabilities.

Rwandans have to feel responsibility towards supporting them to regain confidence and take them towards development of all Rwandans.  About 236 animals were given to disabled people in the course of the 16 days in Gisagara district.

Nk’uko uyu muturage abyivugira kandi ngo babonye umuriro w’amashanyarazi biteguye no kugaragaza uruhare rwabo mu kugeza amazi meza kuri ako gasantre kuko bizaba bibahaye icyizere ko iterambere koko ririmo ribasana.

Gahunda ya VUP,ni imwe mu zafashije abaturage ba Rurembo kwiyubakira inzu izajya ikoreramo Umurenge SACCO wabo no kwiteza imbere

Mu karere ka Nyabihu gahunda ya VUP yaje ikenewe kandi ngo ifasha abaturage bo mu mirenge ikennye kwikura mu bukene no kwizamura nk’uko ushinzwe ubukungu n’iterambere mu karere ka Nyabihu Mukaminani Angela yabidutangarije.

Iyi gahunda ikaba iri mu mirenge ine y’akarere ka Nyabihu ariyo Shyira,Jomba,Rurembo na Bigogwe. Abaturage bo muri iyo mirenge bakaba bakora ibikorwa biteza imbere uduce batuyemo ndetse bikabateza imbere nabo. Bimwe muri ibyo bikorwa hakaba harimo nko gukora imihanda,kubaka amashuri, gukora amaterasi ndinganire n’ibindi.

Mu gukora ibyo bikorwa,abaturage bakaba bahabwa amafaranga abafasha kwiteza imbere no kuzamura imibereho yabo bakikura mu bukene bukabije baba barimo. Umuyobozi wungirije ushinzwe ubukungu n’iterambere mu karere ka Nyabihu Mukaminani Angela,avuga ko nko mu murenge wa Rurembo,babashije kugera ku ntambwe ishimishije cyane kandi ari wo wari umurenge ukennye cyane kurusha iyindio mu karere ka Nyabihu. Uretse kuzahura ubutaka bwaho ndetse no kubukoraho neza ku buryo ubu busigaye butanga umusaruro ku buryo bushimishije,uyu murenge wabaye uwa kabiri mu kwiyubakira inzu izajya ikoreramo umurenge SACCO yawo bwite. Ibi bikaba byarakozwe n’abaturage.

Mu yindi mirenge iyi gahunda irimo,abaturage bakaba bagenda bigeza kuri byinshi nk’ubworozi bw’amatungo magufi,guca nyakatsi ku buriri,gukemura ibibazo byo mu ngo,kwizigamira,n’ibindi bitandukanye nk’uko Mukaminani Angela yabigarutseho. Kubwe akaba asanga iyi gahunda ya VUP yaraje ikenewe kuko abaturage benshi bamaze kwikura mu kiciro cy’ubukene bukabije.

Rwandans from the Twa community in Busanze sector- Nyaruguru District say they are poor because government development programs like agricultural development are not well communicated in their place.

On the issue that Girinka program as one of agricultural programmes in the country has not yet benefited the Twa, Fabien Niyitegeka, vice mayor for economic affairs in the District remarks that government programs do not discriminate but meant for all vulnerable residents of Rwanda.

Niyitegeka adds that Twa community are being prepared and trained to handle other better projects for their environment like piggery and chicken farming.

Nyaruguru district authorities say they are organizing projects that will promote social development among the Twa.

Some residents of Gatunda in Busanze sector reveal they depend on pottery which is not earning much in this generation.

Asiteriya Mukankusi explains pottery is heredity and they cannot quit doing it without another activity to give them small money for home use.

Mukankusi adds: “We are very poor and in need to develop but pot making can never get us anywhere. If we get land for cultivation and animal keeping, we can be better.”

Nyaruguru vice mayor stresses that most of the problems Twa people have are based on negative attitude. Its in that order that a health worker will be assigned to care for their social affairs and to help change their mindset.

Rwanda Network of People living with HIV/AIDS (RNP+) training residents on violence prevention

 Like other districts that are less developed, different associations use trainings to reach their goals other than residents in Ruhango District development.

Some local leaders in Ruhango district view trainings as a way of making money instead of fulfilling the purpose of the organizations.

During the training, you hear peoples voices asking each other; “how much allowance are we getting today, isn’t the usual Rwf1000 we get?”

This is evidence that participants do not concentrate on what they are being taught but on how much transport they will collect and how to use it.

In addition, some participants do not trust the organizers saying they steal the big part of the money, which is retards the development of the residents and their country.

This was confirmed by local leaders in Ntongwe sector on August 1^st 2012 when they turned up for the 2days training that was organized by RRP+.

On the first day, each participant got Rwf1000 which they demanded an increase on 2^nd day. The organizers decided to add more Rwf1000 when some participants had left the place in anger and were called back.

However, some did not come back and were heard saying: “They should not play on our minds, do they think we cross five hills to come and get Rwf1000. We will never come back.”

Similarly, residents say some organizers attend to other personal programs making the participants wait for the whole day. What surprises is that they come in the evening to sign for their transport money.

Residents explain their development has become an umbrella for embezzling organizations money. It’s for that matter that residents no longer see value in trainings but a money ground for organizers.

On July 26^th 2012, Youth motorcyclists in COTMNDAGA cooperative in Kiziguro sector donated goats worth Rwf150, 000 to vulnerable genocide survivors.

COTMNDAGA cooperative members give livestock among themselves but they donated goats to vulnerable residents as a way of joining their neighbours in fighting poverty.

Frank Nkundineza revealed to the beneficiaries, Kiziguro and Gatsibo district authorities that they desire to build their country starting from their residence areas.

Nkundineza adds donating to the vulnerable residents is an act of love they intend to instill in their neighbours to help and resolve problems in society.

Angelique Uwimana, a beneficiary from Mushobora Cell in Remera sector, thanked youth motorcyclists for the love and promised to make good use of the goat to achieve development.

COTMNDAGA cooperative members were asked to strive for social and economic development fighting drug use that is common in motorcyclists.

COTMNDAGA motorcyclists were given uniforms and visited Kiziguro genocide memorial centre where over 12000 bodies are laid to rest.

Girinka program in Nyabihu district has taken a bigger step as on the 25^th.July.2012 in Mukamira sector where about 30 cows have been given to the poor and the 1994 genocide against Tutsi survivors; reports Eugene Shingiro the veterinarian in the area.

Among the 30 cows that were given out, 12 are from the poor who were given before who decided to give to their neighbors, 15 of them are from Girinka association and 3 were bought from the money that was given for the support of the 1994 genocide survivors who are poor during the memorial period.

Angela Mukaminani the vice Mayor for finance and economic development in Nyabihu District who attended this function asked those who were given cows to protect them and take good care of them and to give to their neighbors when they reproduce and keep up the process of Girinka Munyarwanda and to use them well and promote their social welfare, fight against poverty and attain development.

Those who were given cows including Ruziga and Munyakabango said that they will do everything possible to protect their cows and to give their neighbors in the future and to use them to get out of poverty and to improve their social lives by eating well by getting manure to boost their farming.

In the last economic year 2012/2013, Nyabihu district gave out 721 cows in Girinka program and they had vowed to give out 500 cows and in this economic year 2012/2013 which started in June.2012, 66 cows have already been given out.

On July 7th 2012, a three months training for 38 Avega members, organised by Survivor fund (SURF) was closed in Nkungu sector in Rusizi district.

The purpose behind the training was to teach them job creation, making good use of loans and to initiate cooperatives in order to achieve long term development.

The training was conducted by Alex Shema, AVEGA worker in Western province who thanked the participants for their commitment towards the three months training.

Shema asked the participants to practice what they learnt so that they do not forget since learning is practicing. He added that what they were taught can change their entire lives if they pay much attention to them.

While giving certificates to the participants, executive secretary of Nkungu sector asked AVEGA members to implement what they learnt and promised to be supportive in their activities.

On the side of the members, they are grateful to SURF for the skills they acquired and believe they will pave the way to their development.
