Musenyeri ashyikiriza umwe mu bagabiwe inka

Les motards opérant dans la ville de Gakenke, district du même nom, déclarent que le prix des couvertures de tête utilisés par les passagers est excessif. En effet, ils affirment que l’utilisation de ces couvertures s’en trouve assez problématique alors que leur entrée en vigueur est récente.

A cet effet, les motards attestent que le prix d’achat de 50 frs pour ces petites couvertures est très élevé alors que les amendes au manquement de ces règles sont fixées à 10 000frs. Ils souhaitent que le prix soit fixé entre 20 et 25 frs en fonction des prix payés par les utilisateurs de ces motos.

Un des responsables de la coopérative COTAMOGA, Moise Nshakabyanga, explique que les petites couvertures sont bénéfiques pour la santé car elles protègent contre les maladies touchant l’épiderme du corps humain. Il préconise l’emploi régulier de ces outils de propreté

Three cooperatives that farm fish in Gakenke district have received more than 20,000 fish in their ponds, enabling a good harvest by this period of time next year, causing positive grow.

Frodouard Ahishakiye a coordinator of ‘Twite ku mirire’ cooperative that works in Rusagara cell in Gakenke sector said that they hope to get enough produce in a period of the year.

To achieve this, they have to work hard to get them food so that they grow well, protecting them from dangerous insects and animals by being hygienic.

She says that when fish is well taken care of they give enough produce and that 4 fish in their cooperative weigh 1Kgs.

“Twite ku mirire” cooperative was given 13.600 fish, ‘Terimbere muhinzi-mworozi’ cooperative from Gashenyi sector was given 3.000 fish and Nyarutovu secondary school in Nemba sector were given 4.200 fish on the support of PAGELAC project.

Hope for Living organisation funded by Global fund has given pigs and goats to the cooperatives of the vulnerable people living with HIV/AIDS from four sectors in Gakenke district.

During the meeting to reveal the achievements and future prospects held on February 27th 2012, Hope for Living disclosed that 150 goats and 40 pigs were given to cooperatives of people living with HIV /AIDS by the end of last year.

Hope for the living plans to continue giving live stock to the cooperatives in the second phase beginning with March 2012.

The cooperatives that received cows have opted for consolidated live stock keeping in order promoting the culture of working under cooperatives.

However, consolidated farming posed a problem to the goats which has made some beneficiaries relax as far as caring for goats is concerned. As a result some goats do not look healthy.

Hope for living trained 10 health workers that sensitised 1500 people on the advantages of circumcising and family planning as per the contract they had with Hope for Living.

Hope for living works in four sectors; Mataba, Mugunga, Minazi and Muyongwe of Gakenke district from 2011.

Les autochtones de Gakenke dissent qu’il ya une grande différence entre les conditions de vie d’avant 1994 et celles d’aujourd’hui. Cela résulte que de nos jours ils vivent mieux que dans cette période ci-haut.

Quelques autochtones interrogés du secteur de Gakenke affirment que dans les années d’avant ils vivaient dans des maisons de paille. Ils dormaient par terre dans la poussière sans avoir de quoi se vêtir. Mais de nos jours, ils sont devenus des rwandais comme tant d’autres. Ils vivent dans des maisons en tôles, ils dorment sur des matelas avec des draps.

Muhimpundu Françoise, une des habitantes de cette région, déclare que sa maison est constituée des briques non cuites avec des tôles. Le visiteur est reçu par des enfants propres et bien portants. Derrière la maison, on remarque une étable pour vaches améliorées. Cette mère de deux enfants, atteste ne pas avoir de problèmes pour vivre car la vache qu’elle possède lui a été offerte dans le programme national « Girinka munyarwanda ».

Cette vache donne 7 litres de lait quotidiennement, elle donne une partie du lait à ses enfants. Elle vend l’autre partie, l’argent recolté sert dans la vie courante. Grace à cette vache, elle obtient aussi de l’engrais pour son champ qui est situé tout près de sa maison.

Même si Muhimpundu est parvenue à améliorer sa vie, d’autres indigènes espèrent suivre son exemple en obtenant aussi des vaches pour obtenir de l’argent et engrais pour leurs champs. Comme ils vivent dans la vallée, l’Etat est en train de chercher des voies et moyens de leur construire des maisons à trois chambres avec cuisine qui seront prêtes dans les prochains jours. Ces 5 maisons seront cimentées avec de l’électricité comme c’est prévu dans le programme.

Cyclists in Gakenke sector are not happy with the decision taken in the previous security meeting which resolved to ban cyclists from operating in Kaziba and Gakenke centers. Officials explained that the move was aimed at reducing the number of road accidents which they blame to cyclists. The latter on the other hand argue that taxi bicycles are their only source of income.

Ntegerejimana Emmanuel, a cyclist in Kiziba centre told us that they used to carry people from the district headquarters to Gakenke trading centre, “so the ban will definitely have a negative impact on our families” he lamented.

Sibomana Christophe is a chairman of a cyclists’ cooperative in Gakenke requested the authorities to lift the ban and give them instructions to follow instead.

The district mayor Nzamwita Deogratias said they cannot lift the ban because it aims to protect people’s safety. He said that the road linking Kaziba and Gakenke centers is very sloppy with sharp corners and that most bicycles do not have brakes thus causing accidents.

Les familles des autochtones de Gakenke se réjouissent du programme de leur district en vue d’améliorer leurs conditions de vie. C’est au cours d’une reunion que  le district vient d’organiser avec les habitants dans le but de leur aborder les objectifs atteints par le district de Gakenke.

Le responsable de la coopérative des potiers du Rwanda (COPORWA) dans la province du nord, Gisaza Nyirora Dieudonné, loue les actions du district de Gakenke  en faveur des populations autochtones. Ces actions sont entre autres la construction de leurs maisons en matériaux durables.

Il a ajouté que ces populations ont été acquittées du paiement des mutuelles de santé, d’où ils n’ont plus de problèmes pour se soigner.

Comme ce responsable le rappelle, quelques indigènes ont reçu des vaches dans le programme national d’octroi des vaches « Girinka Munyarwanda », dans le même sens il réitère a ce que les autres indigènes puissent obtenir des vaches.

Le maire du district de Gakenke, Nzamwita Deogratias, a exhorté les populations autochtones de faire parvenir leurs doléances au district. A cet effet, il s’est engagé à leur venir en aide et leur a promis que le district de Gakenke va tout mettre en œuvre pour que leurs problèmes puissent trouver des solutions.
