Underutilized piece of land
Kayonza district authorities are making plans of putting every piece of land lying idle into use for more yields and development purposes.

This was resolved after a study tour some of Kayonza district officials made to Burera district.
During the study, Kayonza district officials were surprised to see every piece of land in use, reveals Anitha Mutesi; Mayor for Kayonza district.
Mutesi explains that most pieces of land that lie idle in different sectors that make Kayonza district, belong to genocide survivors who have less capacity to develop them.
“Most fields in this place are owned by people that do not live here especially genocide orphans. We are planning on how the owner can rent the land to the able developers and get an income in turn of developing their lands,” highlights Mutesi.
Once this plan is implemented, it is hoped that to promote residents’ economy since not making use of a natural resource retards development, adds Mutesi
However, Mutesi explains that some residents in Kayonza are lazy and don’t want to work. Mobilisation will help achieve that goal.
