The 1994 genocide survivors in Karambi village in Nyamata sector are grateful to the consideration of people towards supporting them and lending a hand to those in need.
This was said during the appreciation of the presents including foodstuffs and livestock they were given by Hotel Gorillas Groups.
Supporting genocide survivors is the best way to make them self reliant. Hotel Gorillas Groups will always support genocide survivors, according to Ines Gikundiro in financial services in this hotel.
“We have always wanted to support genocide survivors for some time now. This is not about just supporting them with things, we are going to be with them always in their everyday troubles and lives” says Gikundiro.
Sixteen goats, food stuffs including rice, maize flour and cooking oil were distributed in 8 poorest families in Karambi village.
Hilariya Nsonera an old lady that was given food stuffs and a goat to rear says she is grateful to the president of the republic of Rwanda who made people realize the importance of helping out those in need.
Jacques Gashumba the executive secretary of Nyamata sector appreciated the support by Hotel Gorillas Group to the genocide survivors in his sector. He appealed people who were given the livestock to take good care of them so that they reproduce and give to their neighbours.
The workers of Hotel Gorilla also visited the Nyamata genocide memorial site in Bugesera district, they were explained about the history of Rwanda, the preparation and execution of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsis and how Tutsis that had sought refuge in Nyamata church were massacred.
